“A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin, and culture is like a tree without roots.” – Marcus Garvey

On a recent visit to Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park with my son, I couldn’t take my eyes off this bronze sculpture, “Listening to History,” by British Sculptor Bill Woodrow. My son suggested we take a picture of it (so that we could move on!).
As I meet with two different Life Story clients today, this idea of “listening to history” is very much on my mind. My hope is that my clients and their families (and me!) learn from, understand, and know their history. Who are we without it?
